About Peabody Memorial Library
Peabody Memorial Library is located at 162 Main Street in Jonesport.
Built in 1915 with funds donated by the Peabody family, the library is a small brick building that serves the communities of Jonesport, Beals, and Addison. In 2006, the library expanded with a new handicap-accessible wing, doubling its size and broadening the services available. The library is privately owned.
In addition to traditional library services, Peabody Memorial Library offers free Wi-Fi, community outreach for seniors and homebound residents, and a variety of programs for all ages. Offerings include children’s events, computer literacy classes, tutoring, job-readiness training and certifications, genealogy resources, arts and music activities, meeting space for local nonprofit groups, and assistance with applying for select social services.
Library's Mission: To provide services, cultural programming, and technology education while serving as a community resource that supports a stronger quality of life in the area.
