US Coast Guard Station Jonesport

Established in 1960 to consolidate several smaller life-saving stations along the Downeast coast, the Jonesport Coast Guard Station has long been an essential presence in the community. The main station house was constructed in 1967, followed by additional housing units in 1969, reflecting its continued growth and regional importance.

By 2010, it was staffed with 28 enlisted personnel and equipped with a 47-foot motor lifeboat, a 27-foot utility boat, and a 25-foot response craft. The station also hosted the USCGC Moray, an 87-foot coastal patrol boat with a crew of ten, and worked closely with the Maine State Marine Patrol.

The primary missions of the USCG Station include search and rescue operations, commercial fishing vessel safety, and fisheries law enforcement.
